What inspires you?

I've always been a dreamer.

I have always believed God's word to be true, that He is "able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all I can ask or imagine, according to the power that works within me". (Ephesians 3:20)

I have seen Him do this time and time again in my life.

I figure, if I can dream it big, He can do it even bigger.

But when it comes to the dream I have for myself, I easily get inspired to go after it.

My problem is that I give up too quickly.

There's no way I can be that good. It may be my dream, but it's probably not God's plan.

Have you ever felt that way?

I don't know about you, but I get inspired by seeing other "ordinary people" - like myself- use the gifts God has given them, to step out and reach for the dream that is in their heart.

It may sound silly, but what about those contestants on American Idol? Yes, they are extremely gifted, but they had to take that leap and audition. They had to be vulnerable, knowing they might not make it or may be harshly criticized, in front of the entire world!

What about those people who want to be on Broadway or in tv/film who go to audition after audition, hoping to get that one great shot?

And when they do get it and you see all of their hard work and faith pay off? That inspires me. (I know someone like that, by the way.)

What about someone who has a dream to be a rock star, who works so that he can live to play his guitar and sing, because that is what is in his heart?

I know someone like that, too, and he inspires me as well.

I believe that God created us to be dreamers. Obviously, we're supposed to work, too, but I don't think God would have given us the ability to dream if He didn't want us to do it.

I've been given an opportunity to live the dream that has been in my heart. It wasn't exactly the way I envisioned it, but that's because God is funny.

(I told Him I was giving it up, and if He wanted me to do something about this He was going to have to bring it to me. He did.)

And though it's scary to me and I know I will face opposition (mainly my own self!), I am still going for it.

I encourage you to do the same!
