Friends for life

I am blessed to have friends all over the place--New York, Alaska, California, Arkansas.

(And the best state, of course-- Texas.)

Some of these people I talk to on a regular basis. Some, every few years.

But they are all people I know I could call at a moment's notice that would help me out however they could.

Though I know friendships can often be seasonal, I love it when God brings people into your life that take off their shoes and plan to stay for a while.

The kind of friends you can open up your heart to and cry with, and they cry along with you.

The kind that you can laugh with and be yourself with, and because of that they love you even more.

We had those friends over last night as they were traveling through Texas, since their home is now elsewhere.

We've been friends with this family for about eight years (I think). Lots of memories have been made with them, lots of bread broken together.

We love them and are so thankful they chose to stay with us during their exhausting "vacation".

It was a quick 24-hour visit, but it was such a blessing.
