I have a new friend

She loves for me to come over and sit on the porch with her and enjoy a glass of wine.

(She calls me her "partner in crime".)

She asks me about school and the kids and what's going in my life.

And she's 85.

Her husband is being treated by my physical therapist husband, and she asked for my company.

And I love every minute of it!

(And not just 'cause there's wine involved, I promise.)

My grandmother is 86, and she and I have a wonderful relationship.

Until my husband got into PT school, I lived 1-2 blocks from her for 22 years. We were always at her house growing up, whether she needed to watch us while my parents were busy or just because I wanted to be there.

To this day I call her weekly, because I love her and want to keep in touch.

I think because of that relationship, I have always felt very comfortable sitting with, talking, sharing with, and enjoying the company of those wise, older women who have been around the block a few times and have pearls of wisdom to share.

(Or to enjoy a glass of wine with.)

I'm pretty sure that when therapy is finished, we'll still be enjoying this couple's company and watching the golf course across the street.

I know I look forward to it.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!
